Class 2: Tango's Blue Flame
(All, Ochos)
In this class we explore connection, technique, &
musicality by cultivating a quiet intensity which
we like to call “blue flame.” We’ll listen and
dance to tango music that calls for that “blue
flame" feeling and allow the music to feed the
flame within our own body and within the
partnership.
After learning to ignite that yummy,
soulful feeling that everyone seeks in tango, we’ll
practice techniques to create quiet yet powerful
movement.
Class 3: Cortado Boleo
(Adv, Ochos)
In this class, leaders will learn how to lead a fun
and surprising twist on the cortado. Followers will
learn to feel the subtle difference between the
traditional cortado and the cortado boleo, and
will also learn how to adapt the movement of the
cortado boleo to create an embellishment.
Successfully executing this move requires a deep
understanding of technique and connection, and
you may be surprised what you discover through
the process!
Class 4: Musical Phrasing and Dynamic Pausing
(Int, Ochos)
Unlock the power of musical phrasing, one of the
most important & overlooked skills in tango
musicality. Phrasing gives a sense of structure,
predictability, and meaning to the music, and
when we reflect the music's phrasing in our
movement, our dance becomes more meaningful
and aligned to the music.
In this class, you’ll develop an ear for different
types of musical phrases, learn how to predict
when the music will climax to a pause, and
practice creating dynamic pauses in various
positions.
Class 5: Mega-Musicality with Alex and Patricia

Musicality Beyond the Basics (featuring live music
demonstration of concepts with Alex
(bandoneon) and Jay (piano)) - incorporating
more rhythmic variation, and understanding how to dance more lyrically.
Class 6: Turns of the Jedi: Use the Force
(Int, Ochos)
Learn the Jedi secrets to creating dynamic, yet
effortless turns on the dance floor. We’ll also
share secrets on how to change the timing of
your turns to express changes in the music.
